PRCS disaster response services are provided on a daily basis by work teams in response to the emergency needs of Palestinian society and the victims including -- but not limited to -- families under curfew or siege, communities isolated due to closure, and refugees. Relief aid is distributed and mobile field hospitals dispatched through PRCS resources, in close coordination and cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and other relief organizations operating in the country.
Major focus also involves the local community and increasing its readiness to face disasters by training volunteers in a number of specialized activities, including relief and rescue operations, quick damage assessment, camp management, water and sewage management, emergency response unit support (field hospitals), ambulance service support, and administrative assistance. It also endeavors to raise public awareness of disaster preparedness and response techniques through leaflet distribution, TV advertisements and more.
Moreover, it provides guidance to the National Emergency Operations Center, which operates around the clock in PRCS Al Bireh Headquarters.
The Center oversees community and the people and hospitals' needs, nationwide, and responds to high-priority needs through PRCS centers, staff and volunteers. |
