The Palestine Red Crescent Society dispatches 9 trucks loaded with more than 3 million units of medicine to rescue the health situation in Gaza

On February 23, 2026, PRCS announced the launch of a major operation to transfer vital medical supplies from its central warehouses in the West Bank to the Gaza Strip through the Karem Abu Salem crossing.

This step comes in response to repeated warnings about the depletion of medicine stocks and essential medical supplies required to sustain the operation of the Society’s field hospitals and clinics in Gaza.

The Society confirmed that the convoy is the result of intensive coordination efforts that lasted several months with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). Yesterday, five trucks carrying 111 pallets were dispatched, containing 3,284,684 units of medicines and medical solutions. Today, the loading of four additional trucks is being completed, carrying 83 pallets of medicines funded by the European Union and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and stored in the warehouses of the World Health Organization. This brings the total convoy to 194 pallets loaded onto nine large trucks.

The Society explained that these medical procurements were made possible through the support of its international partners, including the European Union (ECHO), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the Arab Organization (ARCO), as well as the national Red Cross societies of Spain, the United Kingdom, Norway, and Canada. The effort was also carried out in cooperation with the Palestinian American Medical Association to support dermatological treatment.

The Society stressed that the arrival of these aid shipments is a fundamental pillar to ensure the continuity of emergency health services provided to citizens amid the extremely challenging conditions facing the healthcare sector in Gaza.
