French National Order of Merit awarded to the President of the PRCS

The Consul General of France in Jerusalem, HE Mr Nicolas Kassianides, has had the honour to award the French National Order of Merit to the president of the Palestine Red Crescent Society, Mr Yunis al Khatib, during a celebration held at the headquarter of the PRCS. Through this prestigious award, the French Republic acknowledges the tireless work undertaken by Mr Al Khatib as the head of the PRCS since 2000, to bring emergency medical relief everywhere in Palestine, for everyone. It is also a tribute paid to the outstanding work of the PRCS and its staff as a whole, that have managed to pursue their tasks in extremely difficult circumstances, too often at the risk of their own lives, in particular in Gaza. France will continue its efforts to support PRCS and stand with the vulnerable Palestinians, as part of its humanitarian action.
